This workshop is for fun-loving women and men, non-binary, and trans folks to make connections, hang, and learn to REALLY defend themselves – are you game?
You’ll learn a variety of practical strategies and techniques in real-world scenarios – custom-made by the LQBTQ+ community just for the LGBTQ+ community.
This workshop will be a combination of physical practice, lively discussion, and instructor demos in a safe space. Oh yeah – we’re going to have (serious) fun!
What you will learn:
- Self-defense strategies to keep you safe
- A practical method to tell if a situation is becoming dangerous
- How the mind reacts in bad situations and how to respond
- Simple karate techniques that you can use under pressure
Material covered in class is real-world for adults and mature teens – participants must be age 12+ to participate. This special workshop is taught by senior instructor Neville Loberg, who brings more than 40 years’ experience to the classroom. Bring water to drink and wear loose sports clothing / gym shoes – no special equipment needed.
Doors open at 9:30am – workshop starts promptly at 10:30 am. We’ll take a hour break for lunch.

We are choosing to make this workshop as affordable as possible, and we do not want to turn anyone away for lack of funds.
